Demand glory from yourself... that's heavy.

That being said I performed another late night half-hearted spray bomb paint job to fix the streaks in the clear from spilling gas on it while it was still fresh. The idea was there, my execution was not. So it will be re-painted this winter... again... maybe sooner...

About those detail shots...

I got sick of those basani pipes. They looked ok but I learned to love that stock balance pipe. So I took off the mufflers, made some quick slash cuts and stuck some 4" mini baffles in there and it runs, performs, and looks pretty darn good. Plus these dont drag in right hand turns. Ah yes, anything to increase the almighty lean angle.

OEM fender... trimmed for length, bottom was radiused to get rid of that ugly flat spot they have, and frame horns were cut off and 3/8'' round stock and some threaded bullets replaced them.

san FRansISCO sporty tank. First one I've completed (had a king tank that I narrowed but decided it was waaay too small and never finished it).

Left side foot control. Kick shift style.

Right side foot control. Heel applied brake.

Both foot controls utilize OEM forward control components, and are both bolt on mounts so I can still open up the primary / cam chest for when I break more things.

Both sides are halfway between forwards and mids, a little higher and a little tighter to the cases.

All of which equal better handling and lean angles.

And about that legit paint job... well it's still wearing rattle can paint. And the generic vented cap leaked gas all over it the first day so the rattle can clear got all runny in a few spots. Oh well... she's good to go for now.

Anyway, my motorcycle looks like this now.






I keep meaning to take some detail shots of the stuff I made on it this winter, but like most things the thought leaves my head a very short while after it enters. While I am happy with the way the tank came out (real deal frisco sporty, home made I might add!) I discovered this morning on the way to work the reserve is good for about 2.5 miles.

Me: "Hey Dave, yeah fill up a can with gas and come down 121a. Don't ask. Thanks, see you in a few."



I'm pretty sure that if anyone does read this it's megan so it wont be news to her but I'm engaged now, 02/16/11 is the big day, on top of Mt. Hood in Oregon. Not too shabby.

$20 Paint Job

So the leak on my gas tank kept getting worse, to the point where JB weld wasn't really doing anything. Found a sporty peanut tank a kid I went to high school with had and fabbed a few quick half assed mounts and threw a spray bomb pain job on the tins.

I already miss the red, and am already sick of everyone telling me it looks like a military bike, "you know that one from WWII..."

So this winter it'll get a proper paint job, and I'm planning a few other little changes here and there too (of course). Among them is a real deal frisco mounting for the tank, and a general cleaning up of the work I did this year. I'm also hoping to have a few more parts gathered for the rigid project so i can have in it rolling chasis form by spring.

Picked this up at the Greasebag Jamboree saturday, wheels are already turning in my head...

I'm thinking stroker evo w/ a magneto, 4spd tranny, no battery, axed tank, springer front fender on the rear, forward swept deluxe drags from front street, spoolie 21 up front and a 19 out back. Possibly a laperra scorpion seat...

I've got plenty of time to decide since I've got a million other things that need my financial attention at the moment.
